Rangareddy: Sheer negligence of a nursing staff ended up in a woman being administered two doses of Covid vaccine within a short span of time, according to reports. But medical authorities in Telangana's Rangareddy district did not confirm the incident.
Lakshmi Prasanna who went to get vaccinated was seated on a chair after getting the first jab at a medical facility in Hayath Nagar. During that time the nurse injected a second dose by mistake, the 21-year-old woman said. Prasanna was rushed to Vanasthalipuram Area Hospital in an ambulance and kept under observation for two days before she was discharged.

"I went to Zilla Parishad High School in Pedda Amberpet (near Hayath Nagar) on Thursday at 8:30 am. I got vaccinated by nurse Padma by 11 am. She was on the phone and suggested that I wait. Later, she administered another dose of the vaccine while still talking over the phone," Prasanna said.

Rangareddy District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) Swarajyalakshmi did not confirm that the woman was administered two doses. The officer said the nurse received a phone call while she was taking the drug into the syringe. The woman said she was not yet vaccinated and the nurse gave the jab while speaking over the phone. Additional DMHO has ordered an investigation, the officer said.
