Siddipet (Telangana): 'When someone has cancer, the whole family and everyone who loves them does too.' These lines resonate the pain of a family in Telangana's Siddipet district. Life of 10-year-old Varsha changed completely the day she got injured while playing.
"One day, she was playing when she fell and got injured. We rushed her to the hospital, but later the wound transformed into a tumour," said Varsha's father Kishtaiah with tears in his eyes.
Upon further diagnosis doctors confirmed that their child had Bone Cancer. Kishtaiah is a daily wage labourer while his wife Lakshmi is a labourer in a cigar factory. Within the past six months, they have spent about four lakhs for chemotherapy.
The financial instability of the family and lack of help has compounded their woes.
The tumours have spread to her hands and head resulting in loss of an eye. In the past year, the couple went to various hospitals in Warangal and Hyderabad for their daughter’s treatment.
Unable to afford treatment for their daughter, the couple is desperately seeking financial assistance from anybody who is willing to help them.
