Karimnagar: A petrol pump in Telangana's Bommakal in Karimnagar district ended up dispensing water instead of petrol after the underground storage tank developed leakage. Some of the motorists who filled petrol at this pump experienced their vehicles stopping all of a sudden. The mechanics who inspected the vehicles stranded mid-way informed the motorists that their vehicles stopped since the water was mixed in the fuel.
Perplexed the motorists started approaching the pump management. As the word spread, it turned out into a protest after local people thronged the pump. They demanded the pump staff dispense petrol in containers like bottles and buckets to prove their claims. Unable to stand the pressure, the employees filled the containers and it was revealed that pumps were dispensing water in place of petrol.
The pump authorities inspected their underground tanks and found that the groundwater seeped into the tank thus contaminating the fuel. The pump was closed down and the pump managers informed the public that they will open after taking out repairs.
