Hyderabad (Telangana): The Congress party won a clear majority continuing by securing 64 seats in Telangana assembly polls, the results of which were announced on Sunday. Congress Telangana President Revanth Reddy, billed as the frontrunner for the Congress CM's post, is declared as elected in the Kodangal assembly segment.
As most exit polls predicted, the Congress showed its upper hand all through in today's results. The grand old party crossed the magic figure of 60 in the early leads itself and reached a final tally of 64 in the evening. BRS bagged 39. BJP and AIMIM ended up with 8 and 7 seats respectively and others one. In this multi-cornered high-stakes electoral battle, no independent won in any of the total 119 seats.

Counting trends are to be expected by 10 am itself. The final results of small segments like Charminar, Bhadrachalam and Aswaraopet may be announced by 1 pm if there are no objections from contesting candidates. Just 94,830 voters exercised their franchise in Charminar. - 7 am
Most of the 119 assembly segments in Telangana will have 14 counting tables. There are six constituencies, which will have 28 tables because they have a higher number of polling centres. These are Serilingampalli, Quthbullapur, Rajendranagar, Maheswharam, LB Nagar and Medchal. - 6.45 am
First, the counting of postal ballots will be taken up at 8 am. There are about 2.2 lakh postal ballot voters including government employees on election duty, those in central services, disabled persons and elders above 80 years of age. Later, the counting of votes in EVMs (electronic voting machines) will begin at 8.30 am. - 6.30 am
Most exit polls gave an advantage to Congress, some predicted a keen contest. Jan Ki Baat gave Congress 48-64, BRS 40-55, BJP 7-13 and AIMIM 4-7. On the other hand, Polstrat gave Congress 49-59, BRS 48-58, BJP 5-10 and AIMIM 6-8. As the results will be announced tomorrow, political circles are agog with speculation about whether these exit polls will prove right. - 6 am
Only 39.64 per cent of voters exercised their right to vote in the Yakutpura segment, which is the lowest. About 41.32 per cent in polling was recorded in Malakpet, 43.27 per cent in Charminar and 45.26 per cent in Chandrayanagutta, 45.50 per cent in Bahadurpura, 47.49 per cent in Jubilee Hills, 48.75 per cent in Serilingampally, 49.07 per cent in LB Nagar and 49.36 per cent in Cantonment. District-wise, Yadadri recorded the highest polling of 90.36 per cent, 56.17 per cent voting in Medchal - Malkajgiri, 59.94 per cent in Ranga Reddy and 68.81 per cent in Hanmakonda. - 5.30 am
In the Telangana election, there were 3,26,02,793 voters in the state. Of them, 2,32,59,256 people exercised their right to vote. Among them 1,15,84,728 were male, 1,16,73,722 were female and 806 others. Constituency-wise, the highest turnout was 91.89 per cent in Munugodu followed by 90.89 per cent polling in Paleru and 90.77 per cent in Alair. - 5 am
As counting is going to begin for the Telangana poll 2023, the fate of over 2,290 candidates from over 100 parties along with 900 independents is sealed in the EVMs. Polling was held on November 30 at 35,655 polling stations in the single-phase poll across the state.
