Telangana police nab gang over fake FB IDs of police officers

Telangana police arrested a gang who, belonging to Bharatpur in Rajasthan, impersonated several police personnel including the SP and created fake social media accounts of nearly 350 policemen in the country. The police also seized Rs 5 lakh in cash, eight mobile phones, 30 SIM cards and fake aadhaar cards and other documents from their possession.

Hyderabad: Telangana police arrested a gang of cybercriminals for creating fake Facebook accounts of nearly 350 policemen in the country.

The gang of four people, belonging to Bharatpur in Rajasthan, impersonated several police personnel including the SP, and created fake social media accounts, police said.

According to the police, these cybercriminals started creating fake FB accounts on the names of police officials to loot money from innocent citizens.

During investigations, it was found that the gang created fake Facebook profiles on the names of various police officers, belonging to Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, to loot money, they said.

The police team also seized Rs 5 lakh in cash, eight mobile phones, 30 SIM cards and fake aadhaar cards and other documents from their possession.
