Rains lash Telangana, many districts suffer flooding woes

Telangana districts have been receiving copious rainfall last four days. The incessant rains caused flooding and disruption of normal life especially in districts like Rajanna Sirisilla, Karimnagar, Jagityal, Nizamabad, Kamareddy and Warangal districts.

Hyderabad: Incessant rains in the Telangana in last four days caused flooding in many parts of the state. The districts like Rajanna Sirisilla, Karimnagar, Jagityal, Nizamabad, Kamareddy and Warangal districts have been receiving heavy rainfall in last four days. In Sirisilla town Pragati Nagar, Old Bus Stand, Sainagar, Ambikanagar and other colonies are inundated. The flooded residential areas threw normal life out of the gear.

AT Sirisilla town, two people were washed away in the flood but the local people rescued them. All the major colonies were inundated due to floods. Even the Gods could not escape the flood fury. The idol of Lord Ganesh was washed away in the floodwater flowing on the roads. Flood victims are being evacuated to safer areas. The collector office was also flooded. District Collector Anurag Jayanti announced the holiday to the educational institutions in Sirisilla district. Officers were alerted to be on their toes for relief works.

Chief Minister KCR, Minister KTR reviewed the situation in Sirisilla. Two DRF teams were despatched to the district for relief works. In a video that is going viral, a man from Sirisilla tied his car with a rope so that the car is not washed away in the floods.

A bridge under construction was collapsed in Vemulavada. A poultry form was washed away in Chintalur village of Nizamabad district. The local people have collected the hens from the flooded poultry farm.

Many colonies in Warangal city were inundated with floodwater due to heavy rains last night. Traffic was disrupted on the Warangal-Khammam main road due to floods. Ponds and reservoirs are overflowing. Colonies in Hanumakonda were inundated and traffic between Hanumakonda and Mulugu was disrupted due to the overflow of Katakshapur pond.

Heavy rains in Jagtial district disrupted road connectivity to several villages. Traffic on the Jagitial -Dharmapuri route has been disrupted since last night due to Anantharam Vagua overflow at Jagtial rural mandal. Traffic on the Raikal-Maithapur route was disrupted due to floods on the Raikal-Maithapur bridge. Water reached several houses in Korutla. Traffic was disrupted due to flooding on the Pembatla bridge in Sarangpur zone.

Heavy rain at Husnabad, Koheda and Akkannapeta mandals in Siddipet district last two days caused floods across the district. The floodwater reached the shopping malls at the main road.

Similarly, heavy rains were reported in Karimnagar district, Kamareddy district, Nirmal district, Mancherial district and Bhadradri kothagudem district. Many residential areas are flooded. Flooding disrupted the traffic to many areas.
