Hyderabad: The Special Operations Team (SOT) under Cyberabad Police Commissionerate on Friday nabbed three people alleging links with organised cricket betting gangs.
The SOT has been monitoring the cricket betting operations in the city. Following a tip-off about the activities of a cricket betting gang in Rajendranagar police station limits, the team picked up to two cash collection agents and one sub bookie at Upparapally.
The police identified the detainees as 39-year-old Mahendra Kumar Soni who runs an automobile business, 23-year-old Rajesh Masnaji Surya Vamshi who works at a private firm and 24-year-old Kuldeep Singh working at a tiffin centre.
According to the police, the suspects were caught red-handed exchanging cash. The officials seized Rs.5,60,000 in cash, five cell-phones, one calculator and two motorcycles from the suspects.
Three more people -- Chandra Paul Singh, Amith and Naresh Singh -- are absconding according to the police. Chandra Paul Singh was identified as the main bookie in the betting gang.
