Kothagudem (Telangana): A 75-year-old man died and his wife was seriously injured after allegedly being beaten up by a man, who alleged that his wife was being harassed by their adopted son. The elderly man was reportedly kicked on his chest with shoes. The accused absconded after the incident.
The incident took place in Cooleyline area of Kottagudem of Bhadradri-Kottagudem district on Sunday. The deceased, identified as Dodda Pochaiah and his wife Lachamma worked in the vegetable market. The childless couple had brought up their relative's son Chander. Chander (30) works as a gas cylinder delivery boy and is unmarried. Trouble started after he went to deliver a gas cylinder at the residence of a local named Hariprasad. Chander took the phone number of Hariprasad's residence and started calling up his wife. One month back, Hariprasad, who works as a labourer went to the elderly couple's house inquiring for Chander. After learning that Chander was not at home, Hariprasad complained to the couple that their son was harassing his wife. He warned them that he would kill Chander if he did not mend his ways.

Recently, after hearing that Chander was at his parents' house, Hariprasad went there early Sunday morning. After failing to find Chander in the house, he began threatening the couple and later started hitting them. When the couple failed to inform him about their adopted son's whereabouts, Hariprasad allegedly kicked them with his shoes. Even though the couple pleaded for mercy, Hariprasad continued kicking them. He kicked the man on his chest and the woman's face. The man died on the spot and the woman suffered serious injuries on her face. Chander's whereabouts are yet to be known while Hariprasad remained absconding.
