Hyderabad: Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Telangana Party (YSRTP) chief YS Sharmila was granted conditional bail by Hyderabad's Nampally Court on Tuesday. This comes a day after she was arrested for allegedly assaulting police personnel after an altercation with them outside her house. The court ordered her to furnish sureties along with a fine of Rs 30,000.

The court heard counsels of both the sides and directed that if Sharmila went abroad then she had to take its permission. Her counsel told court that videos of Sharmila hitting the police personnel were repeatedly shown but nothing was shown of what happened before and after. On Monday, the court had sent Sharmila to police custody for 14 days.

On the basis of a complaint by police personnel, a case was registered against her under sections 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of duty), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from duty), 324 (voluntary causing hurt) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult modesty of a woman) of the IPC. When Sharmila was on her way to the office of the Special Task Force (STF), which is investigating the alleged question paper leak of Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC), the police stopped her. She was allegedly caught on the camera shoving police personnel and even allegedly slapped one of them. A video of the incident went viral on the social media.
