Minor rams car into autorickshaw, kills two in Hyderabad

An infant and his grandmother were killed in Hyderabad after a car, allegedly being driven by a minor, rammed into an autorickshaw they were travelling in. The minor was suspected to be drunk at the time of the accident and is currently absconding.

Hyderabad: A 14-month-old baby and his grandmother died while six others suffered critical injuries as a car, allegedly being driven by a minor, rammed into an autorickshaw in Hyderabad's Bowenpally on Sunday. The auto driver was also injured.

According to the police Mahadev, a 14-month-old boy along with his twin, Madav, mother Sandhya Kiran and grandmother Nagamani were travelling from Kukatpally towards Yapral in an autorickshaw when the mishap took place.

The family was on their way to a relative's house for the weekend, police said.

According to eyewitnesses, the impact of the collision was such that the bonnet of the car was severely mangled and went on to ram a few two-wheelers after hitting the auto-rickshaw.

The injured have been admitted to Gandhi hospital for medical aid and condition of three is said to be critical.

The 16-year-old boy, who was driving his father's car, was booked for culpable homicide along with relevant sections of the Motor Vehicle Act.

Reportedly, the minor was suspected to be drunk at the time of the accident. The minor and his father S Nooruddin are currently absconding.

A probe has been launched by the police to nab the culprits.

According to reports, in June this year, the police said that more than 2,000 minors had been booked here in the first six months, for driving vehicles without a licence. The police said that the parents of the minors were being booked and 1,932 charge sheets had also been filed.
