Hyderabad: A man in Telangana's Kalwakurthy burnt currency notes, valued at a few lakh rupees, as ACB officers raided his house in a corruption case.
Korentakunta Tanda Sarpanch Ramulu applied for permission to the mining department to run a gravel mill in Veldanda Mandal Bollampally. On meeting the Veldanda tehsildar in this connection, the latter suggested that Ramulu meet Venkataiah Goud, a resident of Kalvakurthi town, to take the matter forward.
Goud demanded Rs 6 lakh from Ramulu to complete the work. The deal was finally agreed for Rs 5 lakh. Ramulu, meanwhile, brought the case to the notice of the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB). Based on their suggestion, Ramulu visited Goud's home on Tuesday and handed him the money. The ACB officials, who engineered the plan, raided Goud's house. Panicked, he closed all the doors and set the money on fire on the gas stove. The officials could break open the door and recover only 30% of the money while Goud managed to burn the remaining notes.
