Khairatabad Ganesh idol reduced to one feet this year

The Khairatabad Ganesh committee has decided to install one feet Ganesh idol amid coronavirus outbreak. The committee has been increasing the size of the idol by one feet every year but for the first time they have decided to put one feet long Ganesh idol.

Hyderabad: The huge Khairatabad Ganesh idol which is famous in the Telugu states has reduced its size to one feet this year due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The Khairatabad Ganesh committee has been installing an idol since 1954. The committee has been increasing the size of the idol by one feet every year but for the first time they have decided to put one feet long Ganesh idol.

Committee convener Sandeep said: "The huge statue of Khairatabad Ganesh has been withdrawn due to the current situation. The festivities of Khairatabad Ganesha will be held with precautionary measures until the vaccine for Coronavirus is found."

Lakhs of devotees visit from the Telugu states during 11 days Ganesh festival.

Meanwhile, the committee installed last year a 65-feet idol and were planning to install 66-feet idol this year.
