Hyderabad: A 35-year-old woman died after being hit by a lorry when she was on her way to home in ECIL area of Hyderabad on Wednesday.
According to police, victim identified as Sarita, a resident of APIC Colony was travelling on her two-wheeler towards her home when she was hit by a speeding truck near the Radhika cinema hall in Kushaiguda.
According to eyewitnesses, the driver's rash driving led to the mishap, killing the woman on the spot.
The entire incident was captured in the CCTV camera installed on the road. The footage shows the victim being mowed down by a speeding lorry and driver fleeing from the spot after the incident.
"She was on the way to her house when she was run over by a lorry at Radhika signal. The victim sustained severe injuries on her head and died on the spot," police said.
The people present at the site caught the accused lorry driver who was seen fleeing from the incident soon after the incident took place and handed over him to Khushayiguda police.
A case has been registered against the lorry driver under Section 304-A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
