Hyderabad (Telangana): The police department here solved a child kidnapping case in 24 hours in which an auto-rickshaw driver kidnapped the child of the ragpicker to make some quick money by selling the child.
The SHO Malakpet on Jan. 28, 2021, at 3.30 p.m. received a complaint from Sudugu Ajay, a 27-year-old ragpicker working on the footpath at Moosarambagh, Malakpet, Hyderabad. The man stated that about 10 years ago he came to Hyderabad from Janagaon for seeking livelihood and been homeless and delving on footpaths. Five years back, he married Laxmi and was blessed with a baby girl by name Ammulu, age 2 years and 6 months.
On Jan.27, 2021, at 10 p.m. he along with his wife, daughter Ammulu and his friend Raju, slept at SBI footpath, Moosarambagh. Around 1.30 a.m. on Jan. 28 Raju woke him up and said that his daughter was missing. They searched for his daughter Ammulu and came to the police station and lodged a complaint of kidnap.
On receipt of the above complaint, the SHO Malakpet registered a case and took up investigation.
Under the supervision of K Muralidhar, Addl. Dy. Commissioner of Police, East Zone, Hyderabad and N.Venkataramana, ACP, Malakpet Division, several teams were formed, to trace and rescue the kidnapped baby girl. The team verified the CCTV footages located in and around Malakpet limits and other limits and noticed one person kidnapping the minor girl on a two-wheeler. The same day, Jan. 28, 2021, at 6 p.m., the accused was traced at his house in Golnaka and the girl was rescued safely. The stolen bike was also recovered the accused was arrested and produced before the court for remand.
The investigation revealed that the accused Kalavala Sravan Kumar is an Auto driver and also does painting work. Addicted to alcohol, he was previously involved in property offences at Malakpet and Kachiguda of Hyderabad City and Saroornagar and L.B.Nagar of Rachakonda. Frustrated with his criminal acts his wife deserted him and she is living separately along with her four children.
At present, the accused Sravan Kumar is staying with another woman at Golnaka. He used to ply his passenger Auto from Amberpet to Moosarambagh. In one such occasion, he saw a minor girl playing on a footpath near SBI, Moosarambagh and staying on the footpath with her parents. Since his earnings as an auto driver are insufficient and very meagre to meet his expenses, he planned to earn easy money and hatched a plan to kidnap the minor girl with a view to earning easy money by selling her.
On Jan. 27 around midnight, he stole an unlocked two-wheeler parked in front of a house at Kachiguda and came to SBI, Moosarambagh and moved around here and there till the minor girl and her parents went to sleep. At about 1.09 a.m. he went there and kidnapped the minor girl and brought her to his house on the same stolen bike.
