Hyderabad: Parents Yogesh Gupta and Rupal Gupta from Hyderabad are trying to secure funds to cover the cost of Zolgensma therapy for their two-year-old son Ayaansh who was diagnosed with Type-1 Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA).
The couple from Chattisgarh settled in Hyderabad because of their jobs 10 years ago. They live in Hyderabad's Nallagandla area. In 2018, the couple gave birth to a boy. However, he suffered from health issues since his birth. Doctors have said that he will recover only with the help of the Zolgensma one-time gene replacement therapy, which is available only in America and costs around Rs 16 crore for each injection.
They have been trying to secure money from crowdfunding through impactguru.com for 10 days. Till now they have collected Rs 1.40 crore from the donors. Yogesh requested all the people and government to financially help with their son's treatment. The child's mother resigned from her job to take care of her son. Both parents have faced a lot of difficulties.
