Chadarghat (Telangana): A one-month-old baby was allegedly sold by her drunkard father to a person for Rs 70,000 at Chadarghat in Telangana's Hyderabad on Thursday.
The incident came to light when the baby's mother lodged a complaint with Chadarghat police station.
Police rescued the baby from a person today and arrested the accused father. Police have also handed over the baby to her mother and started interrogating the accused person.
"The accused took Rs 70,000 from the buyer and sold his baby," Chadarghat CI Satish said, adding that he is a habitual drunkard and of late facing some financial problems.
Chadarghat Police lodged a case under Section 317 (exposure and abandonment of child under twelve years, by parent or person having care of it) of IPC besides other sections.
