Hyderabad: Days after Hyderabad based interior designer, Hemanth Kumar's death, who was abducted and killed for marrying a woman from a different caste, Cyberabad Police on Wednesday took two more persons into police custody in connection with the case.
The two accused have been identified as Lakshma Reddy, Kumar's father-in-law and former's brother Yugender Reddy.
According to police sources, Hemanth Kumar and one D Avanthi Reddy were married on June 11 at the Sub-Registrar’s Office in Qutbullapur.
On September 24, Hemanth was brutally murdered by his wife Avanti’s family members.
Based on a complaint from Avanthi, a case has been registered against 18 accused persons under various sections of the Indian Penal Code at the Gachibowli police station. The Police have arrested 14 people out of which 12 are members of Avanthi’s family, including her parents.

According to Cyberabad Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar, Avanthi’s father Laxma Reddy and uncle Yugandhar Reddy were taken into police custody for questioning.
During interrogation, Lakshma Reddy said that as per their plan, all the accused persons went to the house of the deceased in three cars and forcibly kidnapped Avanthi and Hemanth Kumar. On their way, Avanthi got down and escaped, whereas Hemanth Kumar was taken away by other people They murdered Hemanth by strangulation on the outskirts of Kistaigudem village in Sangareddy district, police sources said.
"Lakshma Reddy also told that his family gives more importance to honour more than life and for this reason, he murdered his own son-in-law. Prior to this, when the couple had eloped, Avanti’s parents had lodged a missing person complaint at the Chandanagar police station," an official said.
Reportedly, Hemanth’s body was found abandoned by the national highway in the nearby Sangareddy district.
Meanwhile, police are likely to reconstruct the crime scene, and all angles are to be probed. As many as 14 suspects are already in custody and more are likely to be questioned. Police also assured deceased's wife Avanthi that they have already written to the government recommending a speedy trial in a fast track court.
