Hyderabad(Telangana): Torrential rains across Telangana on Friday evening wreaked havoc while throwing normal life out of gear. Several parts of the state faced flood-like situations and most of the residential areas reported water-logging and inundation. The overflowing water from manholes and drains entered several houses and restaurants while vehicles submerged into knee-deep floodwater. The movement of traffic was also disrupted at many places due to floodwaters on the road.
Traffic flow on Hyderabad-Bengaluru highway was badly affected as a lorry broke down on a newly constructed bridge on the bridge. Vehicular movement on the National Highway 65 was also badly affected as the vehicles had to be stopped for 3km on both sides of the road.
Traffic was also disrupted on the Aranghar-Shamshabad road. Many areas in the Rangareddy district like Hayat Nagar, Vanasthalipuram, LB Nagar, Mansurabad, Nagole, BN Reddy Nagar and Meerpet areas were submerged.
People spent hours in the dark as the power supply was cut off due to strong winds.
Saroor Nagar, Kottapeta, Chaitanya Puri, Dilsukhnagar, Malakpet, Chadar Ghat and surrounding areas of Saidabad were also lashed by heavy rains. Several areas like Uppal, Ramantapur, Boduppal, Medipalli and Peerjadiguda, Malkajgiri, Neredimate, Kushaiguda, Charlapalli and Dammaiguda received moderate rainfall.
