Hyderabad: It was vitriolic. It was high on temper. It was high on pomp and show. It was high on many counts. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections had all elements attached to any major elections, for an Assembly or for that sake, the Lok Sabha.

And then came the day of the counting of votes and results. It was a bright sunny day and as the counting halls filled up with personnel, many took to Twitter to respond to a late-night tweet by Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao's (popularly known by his initials KTR) tweet: Maybe the journey isn't so much about anything. May be its about unbecoming everything that isn't really you, so you can be who you were meant to be in the first place.

The tweet by the working president of TRS, who is also the state Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, instantly resonated among the Twitterati, his followers. Reactions started to pour in from all quarters and it swayed along with the result tally – caustic in the beginning and mellowed as the day progressed.

KTR, who is also Telangana's Industry and Commerce as well as Information Technology Minister had his Twitter handle flooded with replies like, “True Anna, you should go back to US again” or “Looks like the fear of losing has made him more philosophical. By the way this is just a start. Maybe after results, he might start writing poems” to “That’s a hard journey...not everyone can complete it...so many hurdles. Desire, Anger, Ego, Greed, Jealousy, Bias etc etc...”

A rip from the blockbuster Hollywood movie Rocky, also featured in his reply list. “World ain’t all sunshine and rainbows sir.... rocky balboa said something more on this to his son,” was the reply.

By then, the TRS had overcome the initial blues and was gaining steadily. But, the BJP had emerged as the giant slayer, giving the ruling party a run for their money.

Some comments on KTR's Twitter handle were insightful enough. “Wasn't it the fear of losing that made BJP send it's Union ministers & other states CMs to campaign for a Municipal body election... There is not a single leader in BJP who's got the calibre of KTR... BJP can only keep comparing with pappu Rahul & think they are the best...” was one such comment. Alliteration also found its steady presence in the comment section with one respondent saying, “One must unlearn the learnt in order to learn the unlearn which is right Practice does not make a man perfect, it is the right practice that makes a man perfect in a right way and the imperfect practice lands him nowhere.”

By eventing, TRS had bagged 53 seats and was leading in 2 others in the civic body polls. AIMIM had won 43 seats and the BJP was spectacular in its tally by bagging 43 seats and leading in 7 others.

The Twitterati will surely wait for KTR's tweet tomorrow morning!
