Four more students commit suicide after failing in Telangana inter exam results; toll rises to 12

The students ended their lives for failing to clear the inter exam the results of which were declared on Tuesday.

Hyderabad: Four more students committed suicide after failing in the Telangana inter exams the results of which were declared on Tuesday, officials said on Thursday. With this, the toll in the number of inter students who have committed suicide has reached 12. According to the police, a student (16) from Manikonda KPR Colony studying in Inter first year in Government college jumped from a building and got seriously injured for failing in the exam in three subjects.

She was taken to Gandhi Hospital and died on Wednesday an official said. Another student (17) also committed suicide on Wednesday after failing in the exam. It is learnt that the student was staying in Vanasthalipuram and studied the first year of Inter in a private college in Hastinapuram. Likewise, two more of cases of suicide by students for failing to clear the inter exam have been reported from Panjagutta Pratapnagar and Khammam district.

In Panjagutta Pratapnagar, a student (16) committed suicide on Wednesday when no one was at home after failing to clear the exam. In Khammam district, a student (16) from Karepalli mandal of the district studied first year inter in a college in Karepalli. After failing in the exam, the student consumed some poisonous substance and was taken to Khammam government hospital where he died while receiving treatment.

Pertinently, eight cases of such suicides by students who either failed in the inter exams or scored low in the exam were reported from several districts of Telangana. The Telangana government declared the results of the Intermediate first-year and second year (11th and 12th classes) examinations on Tuesday.
