Hyderabad: Moved by the diligence of a food delivery executive associated with a restaurant aggregator towards his work, food lovers in Hyderabad gifted him a moped worth Rs 65,000. Mohammed Aqeel, a 21-year-old city-based delivery executive, used to pick food from the restaurant and deliver it within the shortest possible time, all this by pedalling his bicycle, irrespective of the weather conditions. Buoyed by his work ethics, one of his customers raised money through crowdfunding to buy him a moped.
Rubin Mukesh, an IT professional, was surprised to see a completely drenched Aqeel, an engineering student and a part-time food delivery executive, delivering him his food on a bicycle just 20 minutes after he placed the order on June 14. Soon, he decided to raise money and buy Aqeel a motor vehicle.
"I sincerely thank all of you. I was delivering parcels for over a year on a bicycle. Now that I have a motorbike, I can deliver up to 20 to 25 parcels a day," Aqeel said. He also said he started working for the restaurant aggregator giant in order to be able to pay fees for his studies. The 21 year old is a third year B.Tech student. His father is a cobbler.

"The delivery boy asked me to come down to collect food. When I went there, I noticed that he reached in just 20 minutes, on a bicycle riding nine kilometres, all drenched in the rain. I posted his picture in one of the social media groups and its members responded, saying they wanted to do something for him," Mukesh said. He said the Facebook group members raised Rs 73,000 -- Rs 8,000 more than the required amount. Along with the moped, they also gifted Aqeel a helmet, a sanitiser, a raincoat and masks.
