Eight CPI (Maoist)militia members held, explosives seized

Eight militia members of the banned CPI (Maoist), belonging to Chhattisgarh, were arrested in Telangana. They revealed that they had been working as militia members for the banned CPI (Maoist) for the past two years.

Hyderabad: Eight militia members of the banned CPI (Maoist), belonging to Chhattisgarh, were arrested in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district of Telangana and 30 gelatin sticks and eight detonators seized, police said on Thursday.

They were nabbed during a vehicle check-in Cherla area on Wednesday evening following a chase when they tried to flee after noticing a police party, Assistant Superintendent of police (ASP) Rajesh Chandra told media.

The explosives were seized from their possession.

During questioning, they revealed that they had been working as militia members for the banned CPI (Maoist) for the past two years, the ASP added.
