Shamshabad (Telangana): Based on specific intelligence, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized foreign currency worth Rs 1.5 crores after they intercepted two passengers at International Shamshabad Airport, who was bound for Dubai by Indigo Flight on Tuesday.
The officials checked their luggage and seized Rs 1.5 crore of Saudi Arabia's 500-Riyal notes from the possession of the passengers, which was deftly concealed in sweet boxes, biscuit boxes and also in the bags.
The passengers on interrogation stated that the said Currency was obtained from unauthorized dealers and are well aware of the fact that it is illegal to smuggle foreign currency out of the Country.
Both of the passengers were arrested and further investigation is under progress.
