Telangana: Singampeta, a remote village in Telangana's Wanaparthy district, has hogged the limelight for being the home to an 'urban legend'.
The news of a man's ritualistic feeding on animal blood, especially during the new moon days, has created a sense of fear among the villagers for the past 4-5years.
The person identified as Raju has reportedly fed on 50 animals, mostly sheep and goats, for quenching his thirst.
But the people in his village are afraid he is capable of more, that he is capable of harming their own children in some way.
However, Raju has an entirely different story to tell.
He claims to have fallen prey to someone's evil intentions brought into action through black magic.
Not aware of where this need to feed on blood came from, he says it has now become a habit.
The devil endures the most amount of suffering to the ones closest to him. In this case, Raju's family members.
Frustrated with paying the owners of the animals that Raju kills, his family members have finally taken refuge in the government.
According to them, this legend is a false one.
They have said time and again to people that Raju is not well mentally and have even requested the state government for providing aid so that he could be treated.
For them, he is just their child whose ill health has troubled him.
