Day after getting 'best constable' award, T'gana cop caught taking bribe

The Anti-Corruption Bureau arrested a police constable P Thirupathi Reddy for taking a bribe of Rs 17,000 from a sand dealer in Mahabubnagar district of Telangana. Ironically, Reddy was given the 'best constable' award by State Excise Minister V Srinivas Goud on Independence Day.

Mahabubnagar (Telangana): Barely a day after he received an award on Independence Day for being the best constable in his district, a police constable from Telangana was caught red-handed while taking a bribe.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau arrested P Thirupathi Reddy

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday arrested P Thirupathi Reddy for taking a bribe of Rs 17,000 from a sand dealer in Mahabubnagar district of Telangana.

Posted at I-Town police station in Mahabubnagar, the constable was allegedly harassing the sand dealer, Mudavath Ramesh, by threatening to confiscate his tractor.

The cop had threatened Ramesh to implicate him in a false case in case he did not pay the money. Ramesh then lodged a complaint with the anti-graft agency, which laid a trap and caught the constable red-handed.

ACB arrested Reddy and produced him in a special court for ACB cases.

Only a day earlier on August 15, Reddy had received the best constable award for his dedication and hard work.

He had received the award from State Excise Minister V Srinivas Goud during the Independence Day celebrations.

A Police Constable who was honoured with an award by state Minister for Best police Award in independence day function. Now he was picked by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials yesterday late night.





Palle Thirupathi Reddy, Police Constable, 1-Town Police Station, Mahabubnagar District was caught red-handed by ACB officials on 16-08-2019 at the premises of 1-town police station, Mahabubnagar when he demanded and accepted the bribe amount of Rs.17,000/- from the complainant for doing an official favour, i.e., not to implicate the complainant by booking false case against him and also threatened him to seize the Tractor and to take to the Police Station. The accused officer was arrested and being produced before the Hon’ble Special Judge for ACB cases at Hyderabad.
