Cyberabad top cop Sajjanar was behind a similar encounter in 2008

Cyberabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar, under whose watch all the four accused in the Hyderabad vet's rape-murder were killed in an encounter, had also led a similar encounter in 2008, when three accused in an acid attack were gunned down by the police.

Hyderabad (Telangana): As the news of all four accused in the Hyderabad vet rape-murder being shot dead in a police encounter broke out, all eyes turned towards Cyberabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar, who incidentally was behind a similar encounter in 2008.

Social Media was all praise for the top cop, with hashtags like #SaahoSajjanar trending on Twitter.

A Twitter user even described Sajjanar as the "Real Life Singham".

'Tough Cop' Sajjanar

An IPS officer of the 1996 batch, Sajjanar has built a reputation for himself as a tough cop. He served in several key positions in the united Andhra Police, and subsequently in the Telangana police. He was considered to be instrumental in the arrests of several Maoists and even the encounter killings of top Naxal commanders.

Similar encounter in 2008

Earlier in December 2008, when Sajjanar was serving as the Superintendent of Police in Warangal, the Andhra Pradesh police shot dead three youths who had allegedly thrown acid on two engineering students.

According to reports, the accused were shot dead when they allegedly attacked the cops with weapons, when they went to recover a motor cycle used by them in the incident.

"They suddenly took out a country-made weapon and tried to open fire and also threw acid on policemen. The police opened fire in self-defence, killing all the three accused," Sajjanar was quoted by reports.

The police action came in the wake of huge public outcry over the acid attack, and Sajjanar instantly earned the title of an "encounter specialist".

Key role in killing of top Naxal in 2016

Pertinently, Sajjanar also played a crucial role in the encounter killing of Notorious Maoist renegade Mohammed Nayeemuddin in August, 2016 at Shadnagar. At the time, Sajjanar was serving as the IG Special Intelligence Branch that dealt with Naxals. The killing of Nayeem was believed to have brought relief to several businessmen as he was accused of extortion.

Social media has expressed outrage over the encounter of accused in the murder case of a nationwide sensation. Those who were initially furious over the negligence of the police are now pouring their praises on them. #Jai Police! #Jai Jai Police !! #Saaho Sajjanar are trending hashtags in social media.

In the past, the police have also encountered acid attack accused in Warangal. Sajjanar was the Warangal SP at the time. The direction is now dealing with a murder incident under his direction. But even if it is a coincidence, people are not able to smoke it. That's a lot of compliments. A woman responded by saying that the encounter was "promising quick justice to those who have been attacked by key guards in society."

Another netizan compared Sajjanar as the ''Real Life Singham''. Others responded that the public was happy with the police action. Telangana is proud to have a police officer who gives a proper lesson to the perpetrators of the encounter.



Meet Encounter Specialist V C Sajjanar IPS 

An IPS officer of 1996 batch V C Sajjanar known to be a tough top cop has been hailed by public following the four rapists of Disha shot dead. Encounter killing of four rapists of veterinarian Disha on Friday at the crime scene where she was burnt after gangrape has again brought the name of Sajjanar to the fore. Sajjanar an IPS official at the rank of Inspector General of Police isnow the Cyberabad commissioner of police. Disha gang rape and murder case falls under his jurisdiction.

In 2008 when Sajjanar was Warangal police commissioner the police shot dead three accused in acid attack case. Then encounter took place near Mamnoor in Warangal. Three identified as Srinivas, Harikrishna, Sanjay who were accused in acid attack case. The trio then attacked a girl Swapnika a student of Kakatiya Institute of Technology using acid. The trio were harassing her and despite complaints to police no action as taken. But after the acid attack incident they were shot dead. Rights activists then criticised it as as extra judicial killing.

Sajjanar also played a key role in the encounter killing of renegade naxal Nayeemuddin alias Nayeem. Sajjanar was the IG Special Intelligence Branch that deals with the naxals when the killing of Nayeem took place. Nayeem was shot dead in the Hyderabad outskirts. Killing of Nayeem was a relief then to to several businessmen who were extorted by him.

Sajjanar worked in several key positions in united Andhra police and now in Telangana police. While he was heading SIB he was instrumental in arrests of Maoists and encounter killing of Top naxal leaders. Friday encounter of rapists of Disha has once again brought the name of Sajjanar to the public debate. Director General of Police M Mahendar Reddy and VS Sajjanar had series of discussion with the top political brass of the State over the action in the case.
