Hyderabad: The cybercrime team of Cyberabad Commissionerate arrested a five-member OLX fraud gang from Bharatpur in Rajasthan. Police officials seized Rs 1 lakh, 21 sim cards and 12 ATM cards from them.
Speaking to media on Tuesday, Cyberabad police commissioner VC Sajjanar said that the gang was involved in as many as 40 cases in Telangana. After a series of complaints on OLX fraud, a special cybercrime team was formed. After toiling for almost 30 days, the team nabbed five-member gang headed by Rukhmin, Sajjanar added.
Rukhmin with the help of Murfeed, Saikul Khan, Shahrukh and Rakham Khan use to open fake e-wallet accounts, bank accounts and send QR codes of payment request to customers.

Posing as armed forces, the accused used to contact the victims stating that they have got transferred and are willing to sell household items including four-wheelers and two-wheelers.
The gang also contact customers on OLX posing as buyers and send a QR code to pay money instead of receiving the payment.
"Be cautious while doing any transactions on OLX. Come to a deal only after gaining complete confidence while buying/selling on online apps," Commissioner Sajjanar appealed public.
