Dharmapuri (Tamil Nadu): India’s elections had relied on the paper ballot for a long time. Then, the Electronic Voting Machines were introduced. Opposition parties regularly raise their suspicions about EVMs.
Jayapandiyan, a YouTuber from Dharmapuri district in a video said EVMs could be rigged. However, the matter did not go down well with the State Election Commission.
In the YouTube video, Jayapandiyan claims that there is evidence to show how EVMs could be tampered with.
Dharmapuri Election officer Thenmozhi registered a complaint against him. The police arrested him, charging him under different sections. The police also seized a fake EVM machine from him.
Jayapandiyan who claims to be a scientist does project works for Class 10 and Class 12 students.
