Cuddalore (Tamil Nadu): A local woman, who tried to cover the murder of her husband by filing a 'missing person' complaint, was arrested by the police after a nine-month-long investigation, which revealed her involvement in the killing, along with a paramour.
The deceased husband - Sridharan and wife - Sudha, tied the knot in 2006 and have been happily married for 14 years. Sridharan was employed at a private college and his weekend pastime included visiting his village and friend - Shivaraj.
These frequent visits resulted in both Shivaraj and Sudha developing an illicit relationship. Though this was informed to Sridharan by villagers, the former refused to believe their statements and reportedly spoke about his trust on his wife and friend.
However, this was shortlived as Sridharan caught both his wife and Shivaraj in a compromising position, which eventually led to his death.
"After the incident, Sudha and Shivaraj decided to kill Sridharan. They doused him with petrol and burnt the body, before dumping it in a canal. Later, the woman came to us and filed a missing person complaint of her husband," said District Superintendent of Police Abhinav.
The SP further said that a special team has been deployed to nab the absconding Shivaraj and would soon be arrested.
