A tribal village in TN hoist tricolour in wooden flagpole to celebrate 71st R-Day

The residents of small tribal village-Panapatti located at a distance of 30 km from the Dharmapuri district of Tamil Nadu gathered wood from nearby forest area and transformed it into a flagpole. Children of Panapatti village had to cover a distance of 10 km to reach their school and to escape the same on the occasion of republic day, the villagers decided to commemorate the day in the village itself.

Dharmapuri: As the nation celebrated the 71st Republic Day in a grand manner on Sunday, residents of a village located in Dharmapuri district of Tamil Nadu facing lack of even basic amenities for survival observed the day in their own humble way.

The residents of small tribal village-Panapatti located at a distance of 30 km from the district, gathered wood from nearby forest area and transformed it into a flagpole.

Children of Panapatti village had to cover a distance of 10 km to reach their school and to escape the same on the occasion of republic day, the villagers decided to commemorate the day in the village itself.

The R-Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour in the village on Sunday, with children and locals gathered around the flag pole for the ceremony were seen waving the national flag.

The chief guest for the day, Dr Sivakumar Senthilmurugan-a doctor of a government hospital, unfurled the national flag at the event hosted by the locals.

A flag hoisting ceremony followed by distribution of sweets and blankets to the local children was conducted on the auspicious occasion of R-Day.

Making it a most memorable day for the children of the village, a race was also organised in the vicinity and winners for the same were awarded prizes by the chief guest.

Panapatti, a tribal village located near Hogenakkal in Dharmapuri district. Even though, hundreds of tribes are living in the village, no proper road and other basic facilities were provided to the public



Students from this village, had to travel around 10 kilometers to their school for participating in the Republic day celebration. So, instead of that, the villagers decide to celebrate Republic day in their village itself.



Village people invited Pennagaram Government Hospital doctor Dr. Sivakumar Senthilmurugan as chief guest. And the tribes converted the tree that they find in the forest as flagpost and conduct the flag hosting ceremony.



Following to the flag hoisting ceremony, sports competitions were conducted for the children and essentials such as Notebooks, Pen, blankets was provided for the people.
