Chennai (Tamil Nadu): Tamil Nadu government on Sunday requested the centre to provide them with 30,000 vials of Amphotericin B, as the state reported a surge in the number of Mucormycosis or Black Fungus cases.
According to the State health ministry, Tamil Nadu so far had recorded 921 black fungus cases, in which Chennai tops with the number 277.
Madurai records 106 cases, Salem comes third with 106, while Trichy and Vellore count with 83 respectively.
So for 25 districts in the state have recorded the black fungus disease. Union Health Ministry so for allocated 2,470 vials of Amphotericin B.

Earlier, on 20th May, the state announced the black fungus infection as a notifiable disease.
