Coimbatore: A mechanical engineer from nearby Tiruppur district, who claimed to have invented an engine which ran on distilled water, on Thursday sought police protection, saying he received death threats over his inventions.
Soundararajan Kumarasamy, a resident of Vellakoil, had received a letter on September 14, threatening him with dire consequences if he continued his research on the engine, police said.
Soundararajan petitioned the West Zone IG and also Deputy Commissioner of Coimbatore, seeking protection.
