Vellore: Three persons were charred to death in a fire that broke out at a cracker shop at Latheri, near Katpadi in Tamil Nadu's Vellore district on Sunday.
The victims were identified as Mohan (62), the shopkeeper and his grandchildren — Thejas (8) and Dhanush (4).
The accident left the entire shop gutted and also damaged 5 two-wheelers parked near the shop.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained and the preliminary investigation revealed that the children were with their grandfather at the shop at the time of the accident.
Upon receiving the information, fire service personnel rushed to the spot and doused the fire. The charred bodies were retrieved and sent to Adukkamparai Government Hospital in Vellore for autopsy.
Katpadi DSP Ravichandran also visited the spot and took stock of the things.
