Trichy: A two-and-half-year-old boy, who drank kerosene mistaking it for juice at her house in Musiri taluk three days ago, died on Monday.
According to the reports, Jeeva, the deceased, was playing at his house when he accidentally drunk kerosene oil which was kept by his mother to fill in the lamp.
His mother said that the toddler started vomiting as soon as he consumed kerosene.
"We immediately took him to the nearby hospital where the doctor said that he was out of danger. On Monday, his condition deteriorated as his lungs stopped working", said the deceased's mother to ETV Bharat.
Meanwhile, the police have taken up a case of unnatural death and are investigating.
What doctor says in case of consumption of kerosene
If a child or adult consumes kerosene, the person has to be rushed to the hospital immediately. Doctors advise people against trying to make the person vomit or resorting to other such measures.
