Trichy: The Air intelligence unit of Trichy has seized gold worth over Rs 1.07 crore from three passengers at Trichy International Airport on Saturday. The passengers arrived at the airport from Dubai & Singapore by Air India Express.
According to the airport authorities, when the officials from the Customs department were checking the belongings of the passengers, the officials noticed suspicious behaviour from the passengers.
Upon a body search of the passengers, officials recovered gold concealed in their bodies which was seized under the Customs Act.

After a preliminary investigation, the passengers have been identified as Suresh, a native of Cuddalore, Mohamed Sadik from Nagapattinam and Muhammad Ziauddin Saqib from Thanjavur.
A total of 2.1 Kg of gold worth more than Rs 1.07 crore was recovered by the authorities. All three passengers have been arrested and further investigation into the case is underway.
