Tamil Nadu government extends Rajiv Gandhi assassination convict Perarivalan's parole for fifth time

The Tamil Nadu government has extended the parole of Rajiv Gandhi assassination convict Perarivalan for the fifth time on grounds of medical treatment.

Chennai (Tamil Nadu): Rajiv Gandhi assassination case convict Perarivalan, who was in jail for the last 30 years under life imprisonment, has been granted parole to seek treatment at a hospital due to a kidney infection and abdominal pain.

The Tamil Nadu government has extended the parole of Perarivalan for 30 days till Oct. 26 on grounds of medical treatment. After the DMK government took charge, Perarivanan has been granted parole. His parole has now been extended for the 5th time.
