Two people have died and two more are in serious condition after consuming spurious liquor in Tamil Nadu's Maliyaduthurai on Sunday.

Mayiladuthurai (Tamil Nadu): Two people have died and two more are in serious condition after consuming spurious liquor in Tamil Nadu's Maliyaduthurai on Sunday.

According to the sources, Prabhu, (33), who worked at a printing press, resident of Senthankudi near Mayiladuthurai, along with five others consumed spurious liquor, on Saturday evening.

After some time Prabhu complained of a blurred vision and was rushed to the government hospital in Mayiladuthurai, where he also tested Covid-positive. While, being moved to the Covid-ward, he succumbed to death.

Another victim Selvam, (36), died at his residence.

Two others Veerasamy, (52) and Sarathkumar, (28), who complained of eyesight loss were admitted to the government hospital. Their situation remains critical.

Whereas, the other two, part of the drinking group, did not show any adverse signs.
