Mourners flock to SPB's farm house to pay homage
From celebrities, fans to the general public, mourners lined up at Tamaraipakkam near here on Saturday to pay homage to star singer S P Balasubrahmanyam,
popularly known as SPB.
At the break of dawn, men and women trooped to the sprawling farm house of the veteran singer to pay their last respects despite restrictions in view of the coronavirus pandemic and about 500 police personnel were deployed to regulate the unceasing crowd, several of whom were from distant locations.

According to reports, the mortal remains of the singer were taken to his farmhouse in Thamaraipakkam in Thiruvallur district after people paid their last respects to the legend in Chennai.

The 74-year-old playback singer was admitted to the hospital on August 5 after he tested positive for coronavirus and suffered a setback days later, prompting doctors to put him on life support.
On August 5, the veteran singer had posted a video on his Facebook page, informing his fans and followers that he has tested positive for COVID-19 and that he was doing well.
In the video, he had said that he was receiving treatment at a Chennai-based private hospital and that he has quarantined himself. But, the health condition of the singer deteriorated last week and was on a ventilator and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) support in the intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospital.
The news of SPB's demise sent shock waves across the nation. Balasubrahmanyam, who worked across Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi and Malayalam film industries has rendered thousands of ever-green songs.
