'Sickening, horrific': Celebs express outrage over TN 'custodial deaths'

With social media trending with hashtags like #JusticeForJayarajAndFenix and #JusticeForJayarajAndBennix, celebrities too expressed their outrage over the alleged custodial deaths of the father-son duo, demanding strict action against the accused cops.

Hyderabad: Celebrities from all walks of life - be it actors, sportspersons, or comedians, came together to express outrage over the alleged custodial deaths of a father-son duo in Tamil Nadu's Thoothukudi earlier this month.

P Jayaraj and his son J Benicks, arrested for allegedly violating lockdown norms over business hours of their mobile phone shop, died at a hospital in Kovilpatti. Their relatives alleged that they were severely thrashed by cops at the police station and were also sexually assaulted.

The incident triggered a furore in the state, leading to the suspension of four policemen, including two sub-inspectors.

Meanwhile, over the past few days, hashtags like #JusticeForJayarajAndFenix and #JusticeForJayarajAndBennix have been trending across social media platforms, with celebrities too expressing their outrage and condemning the alleged police brutality.

Taking to Twitter, actress Kajal Aggarwal called the incident "sickening and intolerable" and demanded harsh punishment for the accused cops.

Meanwhile, Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan too raised his voice, urging people to raise their voice to demand justice for the aggrieved family.
