Sasikala (66) received the grand welcome as her supporters showered flowers and danced in celebration. She returned to Tamil Nadu for the first time since her release on January 27 following a four-year jail term for corruption.

On her way to Chennai from Bangalore, Sasikala visited the Muthumariamman Temple at Hosur. Sasikala's convoy entered Tamil Nadu with the AIADMK flag on her car despite warning against its use by non-members.

Earlier, police also issued a notice warning her to avoid the use of AIADMK flag.

During her jail term, she was removed as AIADMK chief and expelled by E Palaniswami. Sasikala has challenged her removal in court and the Election Commission has permitted the OPS-headed group to use the party flag and symbol.
