Chennai: Vehicular movement was severely hit in Chennai's Madhya Kailash Junction on Thursday after a portion of the road caved in, resulting in a sinkhole.

It is still unclear how the road caved in

According to reports, the six-feet-deep sinkhole appeared near the Madhya Kailash traffic signal today morning.

Traffic police then put up a barricade around the sinkhole.

As a result of the sinkhole, vehicular movement was slow on the stretch, which witnesses heavy traffic on a daily basis.

While it is still unclear how the road caved in, it is believed that underground drainage work being carried out in the area led to the damage.
