Pollachi Sexual Abuse: NCW expresses concern over women safety in TN

NCW chairperson Rekha Sharma has written a letter to Tamil Nadu DGP T K Rajendran in which she has asked the detailed action taken report in Pollachi sexual abuse case. The case was transferred to the CID and now it can be shifted to the CBI due to opposition demands.

New Delhi: The National Commission for Women (NCW) has expressed concern for women safety in Tamil Nadu and has urged the government to take action against the accused in Pollachi sexual abuse case on Wednesday.

NCW chairperson Rekha Sharma has written a letter to Tamil Nadu DGP T K Rajendran in which she asked the detailed action takenreport in the matter.

The letter stated, "Considering the gravity of the matter, it is requested that appropriate action is taken, as per the relevant provision of the law against all the accused and a detailed action taken report in the matter be sent to the commission."

The accused: Thirunavukkarasu, Sathish, Sabarirajan, and Vasanthakumar have already been detained under the Goondas Act (can be detained without bail for a period of one year and that can be extended). Out of the total 8 accused only 4 have been booked under sections of Sexual Harassment (354 A), assault (354B). Later on, the case was transferred to the CID and now it can be shifted to the CBI due to opposition demands.

According to information, around 50 women have been lured, assaulted, and exploited by a gang who used to cultivate online friendships with young girls. They used to forcefully shot obscene photos and video on meeting then. Reportedly, one of the videos got viral after the accused uploaded.

Intro:The National Commission for Women has written a letter to the Director General of Police, Tamil Nadu, TK Rajendran, expressing concern over the security of women in the state and to take action against the accused in sexual Harrassment case in Pollachi.


Body:The letter stated, " Considering the gravity of the matter, it is requested that appropriate action be taken as per the relevant provision of law against all the accused and a detailed action taken report in the matter be sent to the commission."

The accused namely, Thirunavukkarasu, Sathish, Sabarirajan and Vasanthakumar have already been detained under the Goondas Act(can be destined without bail for a period of one year and that can be extended). Out of the total 8 accused only 4 have been booked under sections of sexual Harrassment (354 A), assault(354B). The case was transferred to the CID and now it will be shifted to the CBI due to opposition demands.


Conclusion:Yesterday it was reported in Media, that around a 50 women have been be lured, assaulted and exploited by members of a gang. The members used to befriend women and girls on social media and forcefully shot their obscene videos on meeting them. One of the videos also got viral after the accused uploaded it.
