Coimbatore: Services on the Nilgiris Mountain Rail (NMR) from Mettupalayam to Coonoor were on Sunday cancelled following landslides due to which huge boulders fell on the track, Railway sources said. The services had resumed only on Saturday after being cancelled for two days due to a landslide.
The train which left Mettupalayam at 7.10 AM was brought back as there was a heavy landslide resulting in big boulders falling on the track between Kallar-Hillgrove railway stations, railway sources said. As the clearing operations were expected to take time, the Railways had arranged to transport the 167 train passengers to Udhagamandalam by buses.
