Chennai (Tamil Nadu): The sleuths of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday carried out search operations at multiple locations in the two districts of Theni and Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu in connection with a social media post by one Udhaya Kumar alias Yusuf Aslam, a resident of Theni district. After the search operation, Aslam was taken to Chinnamanoor police station and released after 12 hours of investigation. Aslam was later handed over to the elders of the area by the NIA officials after they got a written statement from him in the presence of the Chinnamanur Village Officer to appear for the next hearing.
According to the sources, the investigation was based on Yusuf Aslam's comments about various religious posts on social networking sites and the agency was also probing his links with terror outfits. The agency also carried out a raid at the residence of one, Abdullah in Kallakadu at Tirunelveli district in connection with a previous case where two people were arrested for their social media posts.
