NIA arrests Madurai man in Hizb-ut-Tahrir case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches in Madurai and arrested one in the Hizb-ut-Tahrir case on Saturday.

Madurai (Tamil Nadu): National Investigation Agency with the help of Madurai City Police arrested Mohammed Iqbal alias Senthil Kumar for allegedly posting on his Facebook page in 2020 with posts insulting certain communities, against caste and religious harmony thus sabotaging public peace and inciting religious riots. NIA investigation revealed that he is a member of the banned Hizb-ut-Tahrir movement in India and is accused of various conspiracies with Bawa Bahruddin alias Manna Bawa.

Iqbal along with Bawa conducted secret meetings in Madurai, Erode, Salem and Thanjavur to brainwash people and enroll them in the banned Hizb-ut-Tahrir outfit.

The officers of the National Intelligence Agency sleuths conducted raids at Mannagurdi and Mansoor Ali Thaikkal area in Thanjavur district. Manna Bawa was arrested in the raid. NIA sleuths also seized 30 books, various documents related to the Hisb-ud-Tahrir movement, three cell phones and a hard disk from him.
