Kancheepuram: A father committed suicide after killing his three children in Vadamangalam near Sriperumbudu on Monday.
Arumugam killed his 12-year-old daughter at home while threw two others into a well near his house.
Arumugam, a daily wage earner, was living with his wife and three children. Arumugam killed his children when his wife went to factory for work. When she returned on Monday evening, she found the body of her younger daughter lying on the floor.
When she shouted for help, villagers rushed to her house and informed the police about the incident. By late evening, police launched a search operation with the support of the villagers.
The villagers found some unidentified clothes near the well. When the deceased's wife confirmed the clothes were of her children, police began searching there.
Subsequently, police recovered the bodies of Shalini (10) and Sethuraman (8). After an hour, the dead body of Arumugam was found hanging from a tree.
Meanwhile, the dead bodies of Arumugam and three others were sent for an autopsy. A case has been registered and the reason was yet to be ascertained, said a police officer handling the case.
