Chennai: Hit by desertions, Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) chief Kamal Haasan on Monday asserted that he would be in politics till such time he was alive and his party shall soon witness a 'transformation.'

The actor's comments come days after several senior leaders quit the party citing several issues.

In a video, Kamal Haasan rejected allegations of autocracy and lack of democracy by those who quit the party and called them ‘nomadic’ and ‘yatris’.

He indicated that they would not be entertained if they sought to re-join the MNM.

"Election loss has not deterred me and I will continue to serve in politics till my last breath. Till such time there is politics, Makkal Needhi Maiam will also be there. Few people wanted to reorganize the infrastructure of the party to their own benefits, but it will not happen again. The hands of the hardworking cadres will be empowered. Everyone will see the mutated version of Makkal Needhi Maiam. Since we have clarity in our ideology and honesty in our path, no one can stop our journey," he said.

Kamal Haasan lost to BJP's Vanathi Srinivasan in Coimbatore South Assembly in the elections held last month.

Following the party's poor performance in the polls, senior members - Vice President R. Mahendran, General Secretary Santhosh Babu, Padmapriya, A G Maurya, Thangavel, Umadevi, Sekar, Suresh Iyer and C.K. Kumaravel have quit the party.
