Trichy (Tamil Nadu): In yet another smuggling bust, Customs officials at Trichy Airport seized 909 gms of gold hidden in underwear from a passenger.
The passenger who arrived at Trichy Airport via an Air India Express rescue plane from Singapore was caught after officials of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence checked the passengers.

The passenger, Gautam (25), hailing from Villupuram District, Sangarapuram Taluk was found smuggling gold mixed with paste in his underwear.
Later the customs officials extracted the gold from the paste. Almost 909 gms of gold was extracted. The officials then seized the gold, filed a case and arrested Gautam. The extracted gold is estimated to be worth Rs 45.78 lakhs.
