MDMK cadres now have to give Rs 100 'donation' to click selfie with Vaiko

Selfie with MDMK chief Vaiko who is a Rajya Sabha member will now cost Rs 100, an MDMK headquarters release said on Thursday. It further asked the party cadres not to felicitate the leader with a shawl, but rather provide funds to the party for its welfare.

Chennai(Tamil Nadu): A selfie or a photograph with Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) chief Vaiko will now cost Rs 100.

The MDMK on Thursday also appealed to its cadres not to felicitate the leader with a shawl, but rather provide funds to the party.

Those desiring to click photographs and selfies with Vaiko, a Rajya Sabha member, should remit a minimum donation of Rs 100 to the party, an MDMK headquarters release said.

"Party cadres should not henceforth honour our general secretary with the shawl," it said adding instead they could give funds to the party.

No reason was assigned by the party for its decision to seek funds for taking photographs and in lieu of shawl.

The party also wanted its members to immediately register as lifetime members of MDMK.
