Former High Court Judge Karnan was arrested in Chennai. He was arrested on the charges for verbally abusing and defaming the Judges and their spouses of the Madras High Court.
A controversial video uploaded recently in the YouTube in which former HC Judge Karnan abused the Judges of SC and HC and their family members in a defaming manner. As the video stirred a controversy, TamilNadu and Puducherry bar council filed a complaint against Karnan.
Chennai CCB registered a complaint against the former Judge Karnan and booked him under Sec 159 and 509 of IPC.
On Nov 29, CCB cops interrogated Karnan and recorded his statement. Meanwhile, a plea was filed in the Madras HC regarding the inaction in the case. The HC expressed its displeasure over the course of action taken by the CCB police. The court also questioned the reason for not arresting Karnan for its custodial investigation.
Following these events, Chennai CCB officials today arrested Karnan and took him to CCB office for investigation.
